You should fly to Papeete, Tahiti (airport code: PPT), which is served by serveral international airlines. (We suggest you make your flight reservations soon, since prices are likely to go up. Recently quoted prices from LAX to PPT were around $1300.) Depending on when you arrive at Papeete, you may be able to take either a very short flight with Air Tahiti (round-trip prices are around $80) or a short ferry ride (~$12 one way) to Moorea that same day/night or you might need to spend the night in Tahiti. For more information, see http://moorea.berkeley.edu/traveling/tahiti-to-moorea or contact Frank Murphy, who can help arrange travel between islands. When purchasing/picking up your ticket for the flight from PPT to Moorea, be sure to ask for a ground transfer for the bus that will take you from the Moorea airport to the Gump Station.
The Gump Station has four types of accommodations on site: hillside bungalows, a studio hillside bungalow, waterfront bungalows, and dormitory rooms. For more details, see http://moorea.berkeley.edu/facilities/housing In addition, there are hotels nearby (though you should not expect to find particularly low rates). Frank Murphy can arrange accommodation for you in one of the hotels if you prefer this to the accommodations at the Gump Station.
Tourism:
There will be some trips and activities during the meeting (details to come later). If you wish to stay on Moorea or visit Tahiti and/or other islands in French Polynesia, Frank Murphy can help with advice and arrangements for this since he also runs a travel agency on Moorea.
