ISMD 2004 Travel, Lodging, and Local Information
The nearest large international airport is San Francisco International (SFO).
Domestic travelers may also want to consider Oakland (OAK) or San Jose
(SJC), both of which are served by budget carriers such as Southwest airlines.
Both San Francisco and Oakland are located about a ninety minute
drive south of Sonoma State University, while San Jose is located about 150
minutes south.
A conference bus will be arranged the afternoon of July 26
to bring participants from SFO to Sonoma State University.
Details will be posted once the travel schedules of participants
are known.
For those unable to use the conference bus, regularly
scheduled commercial service is offered directly from SFO to
Sonoma County by Sonoma County Airport Express Bus Company
at a cost of $26. The buses leave SFO about once every
90 minutes between 5:15 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. and let off
passengers at he Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park,
about a 10 minute drive from the Sonoma State University campus.
More details are available at
http://www.airportexpressinc.com.
We will try to arrange pick-ups at the Doubletree Hotel for those
taking these buses. Sonoma County Airport Express states that
advance reservations are not necessary.
The participants will be housed in the Sauvignon Village
on the campus of Sonoma State University. Each room is
offered as a single and includes a private bath. Those
coming with an accompanying person will be assigned a
double room with private bath.
Please note that the annual SLAC Summer Institute (SSI) will be
held August 2-13, 2004, immediately after the end of ISMD.
Participants in ISMD may want to arrange their travel plans
to attend both meetings. More details about the SSI can be
found at
http://www-conf.slac.stanford.edu/ssi/2004/Default.htm.
